COSI College Internship Position Description
Job Title: Teaching & Learning Program Intern
Reports to: Director of Teaching & Learning Resources
Openings: 1
Time Requirement: 10 hours per week for the quarter or semester of the internship
OBJECTIVE:
Assist with curriculum development within COSI, classroom activity development, teacher education program implementation.
DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:
Intern will research science content, classroom activities that will enhance the field trip experience for K-12 school groups. Intern will also contribute to the development and implementation of inquiry-based teacher education programs at COSI.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Intern may be responsible for the following:
a. research classroom activities and classroom literature connections
b. assist in the creation of scavenger hunts and activities at COSI
c. research & teach inquiry-based activities for professional development
d. make connections to academic content standards
e. copy and distribute any necessary documents
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS NEEDED:
a. Education, Child development or Psychology major
b. Proficiency with Word, Excel and using the internet
c. Basic understanding of inquiry-based and hands-on learning
SCHEDULE:
Weekdays and occasional weekends as arranged by supervisor.
