Volunteer Program Assistant, starts immediately (12 month position). This position involves implementing volunteer projects in communities from New York City to the foothills of the Adirondacks and in parks and preserves owned by The Scenic Hudson Land trust, Inc and managed by Scenic Hudson, a 40-year old not-for-profit environmental organization that works to ensure that tomorrow\\\'s Hudson River Valley is environmentally and economically sustainable and that its capacity to awe and inspire residents and visitors is preserved forever. Projects span from trail creation and conservation, wildlife monitoring, event planning, garbage pick ups natural resource management and leading tours for the public. Responsibilities Include: Work closely with Scenic Hudson staff and its diverse community and land management partners, including local governments, state agencies, recreational user groups, community associations, youth groups, and individuals.

Required: Minimum BA with a background in education, environmental sciences, ecology, biology, land use planning, recreational use of public lands, forest management, or related field.

Basic knowledge of conservation techniques, ecology, natural history and familiarity with social aspects of related environmental issues.

Comfort working outdoors, often in rugged setting. Good writing, organization and presentation skills. Personal transportation necessary.

Desired: Volunteer management experience, teaching experience, knowledge of the cultural and natural history of the Hudson River Valley.
