Ecology Education Fellow (6 month position), starts January 3, 2005 (start date flexible).

You will serve with The Institute of Ecosystem Studies, Education Program, one of the host sites in the Hudson Valley Conservation Project, located in New York State. The Institute of Ecosystem Studies (IES) is an ecological research and education center located on 2000 acres of protected land in Millbrook, NY. The Institute\\\'s Education Program fosters ecological literacy - an understanding of and an ability to use the ideas and methods of ecological science for oneself - in students, teachers, young scientists, professionals, decision makers and the general public. Website: http://www.ecostudies.org/ Responsibilities include: conduct educational ecology programs, develop new programs and program elements, and assess current IES programs for teachers and children, with an emphasis on outdoor field programs. Maintain a portfolio documenting growth and complete an independent project. Training

Opportunities: Wilderness First Aid Certification, Hudson Valley ecology and environmental issues, and on-the-job training. Require: college coursework in a relevant scientific field or in education, some teaching experience, and demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skills.

Desire: BA/BS in science or education, some familiarity with ecological research and experience writing materials for publication. Additional Information: Housing NOT provided. Housing stipend of $400 month. Personal transportation is required.
