The Global Citizen Corps (GCC) program is accepting applications from high school students in the United States to participate in its leadership program which inspires and motivates youth to take meaningful action in their communities. GCC is an international network of over 25,000 youth from Gaza, Haiti, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Indonesia, Pakistan, Tunisia, Somalia, the United States, the United Kingdom who raise awareness and mobilize their peers and communities through action projects. Leaders work with Mercy Corps staff acquiring leadership, teamwork, program design and management, civic engagement, and community mobilization skills while learning to utilize technology, digital media, and social media tools to organize Global Action projects that address challenges linked to poverty, hunger, climate change, education, global health, and conflict. Through the GCC online network, live video conferences and international exchanges youth leaders share their projects and experiences across cultures, communities and countries. U.S. participants can choose to join the online leadership program directly with regional training opportunities throughout the year or begin the program by attending an intensive national leadership training in Portland, Oregon, from June 25th to 29th. Students will receive trainings from Mercy Corps experts, engage in a video conference with their international peers, and gain the skills necessary to mobilize their communities and take meaningful action.
